Polar Bears and Beluga Whales: Manitoba Wildlife Holiday

Itinerary

Day1-2.Winnipeg.Your wildlife adventure will begin in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba’s provincial capital, home to more than half of the population. You’ll spend a couple of days soaking up the culture and city buzz, spending two nights at the stylish Mere hotel. Oozing urban sophistication, this brand new hotel offers views over the Red River and is within walking distance of the city’s main attractions. Follow the trail to Winnipeg’s new Museum of Human Rights, the first of its kind in the world, or spend some time at the Forks: a buzzing development packed with shops and restaurants. On a rainy day, peruse the collection at Winnipeg Art Gallery, or when the sun is shining, take a stroll across the river to browse the historic neighbourhoods and architecture.Accomodation Mere hotel.

Day3-6.Churchill.Leaving the city behind, you’ll head north towards Churchill, situated on the banks of Hudson Bay on the rim of Arctic Canada. Here, tundra dominates the terrain and wildlife rules. Churchill is one of the globe’s only locations for sighting polar bears in the wild, while the town also claims to offer the "best beluga whale watching in the world". Staying at the family-run Seal River Lodge, tucked away in the polar bears’ stomping ground and accessible only by air, you’ll spend five days venturing into the tundra and boating on the Churchill River. You can also look forward to some fabulous bird watching, exhilarating dog sledding rides, and spectacular Aurora Borealis light shows on a clear, starry evening in the Arctic wilderness.Accomodation  Seal River Lodge
