New Zealand's Gourmet Highlights: Luxury Food and Wine Tour

Itinerary

Day 1-3.MARTINBOROUGH .Spend three nights exploring the renowned wine village of Martinborough, located along the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail. Aylstone Boutique Retreat has six stylish rooms, which overlook the neighbouring vineyards and ooze relaxing ambience. Positioned on ‘winery road’, there are numerous vineyards to explore on foot - or on two wheels if you prefer. The region is famed for its Pinot Noir, but the quaint towns of Greytown and Carterton are also fantastic for boutique shopping and culinary delights.

Day 4-5.Wellington.From Martinborough, head 45 minutes south to Wellington and enjoy a personal tour of New Zealand’s culinary café and coffee capital. With the boutique InterContinental Wellington as your base, spend your first morning on the Capital Tastes Tour – a three hour walking excursion that highlights the city’s history and architecture, as well as giving you some ideas for great places to shop and eat. Meanwhile, the Walking Gourmet explores Wellington’s best food places at a relaxed pace and concludes with a three-course tasting lunch at top Wellington restaurant, Logan Brown. Alternatively, for a more intimate gourmet experience, Taste Wellington is a combination of the above but also introduces you to a local foodie, who will treat you to afternoon tea at their home.

Day 6-8.MARLBOROUGH.From Wellington it’s a swift scenic flight (or three hours ferry crossing) to the South Island and Marlborough, home to some of New Zealand’s most iconic vineyards and wineries. Offering a memorable blend of wine, coast and walking experiences, Marlborough is a must for any wine lover. The four-room country retreat Lake Timara Lodge is one of New Zealand’s most exclusive hideaways. Indulge in the gastronomic pleasures of chef and host Louis Schindler, enjoy private tours of the lodge’s own winery Spy Valley, and explore the food and wine trails of Marlborough.  From wine to walks to water; venture into Marlborough Sounds for a short stroll on the Queen Charlotte Track, or indulge in an afternoon cruise of the Sounds, feasting on steamed New Zealand green-lipped mussels and world class Sauvignon Blanc wine.
